The Farm

At Blue Hill

“Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.”
John Muir

At Blue Hill we take our impact seriously – only natural fertilizers used such as coffee grounds, eggs shells, worm castings and banana peels are added to the soil.

Spring 2018

Organic growing starts

Our Farm Manager hand built cedar beds and the planting began…heirloom tomatoes, peppers, squash and herbs…..then came the deer and the ground hogs and LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of rain…while Mark did not find the ground hogs or deer eating the heirlooms amusing I would have loved pictures….but somehow I never was able to see them… year we will critter proof in a humane way of course!

Spring 2019

Chicken Coop

The Chicken Coop is expected to be fully functional by end of Summer 2019.
Rain delays have put us behind schedule!

The coop is almost done and the next critical part >>>> the chicken run is under construction to keep our girls (and possible a group of bachelors roosters) safe!

I attended my first chicken keeping class at the Loudoun County Animal Shelter as we are committed to safe and healthy birds.
